CHIROPODY/ PODIATRY
Chiropodists/Podiatrists diagnose and treat abnormalities of the lower limb. They give professional advice on the treatment/prevention of foot problems and on proper care of the foot. Patients will be of all ages from infants to the elderly. Often we work in conjunction with Physiotherapists, Osteopaths, doctors, surgeons and other Health professionals.
At the Bothwell clinic we specialise in both Chiropody and Podiatry.
Chiropody focuses on the diagnosis, advice and treatment of foot problems. This can involve the skin, nails, and general foot pain / health. General chiropody treatments include:
- Toe – nail cutting
- Ingrown toe – nail treatment
- Callous removal ( Hard – skin)
- Corn debridement
- Verrucae treatment
- Skin/ Nail Infections
- Foot, Leg, Knee, Hip, Back pain
- Bunions / Toe Deformities
- Arthritic problems of the lower limb
- Nail surgery
- Podopaediatrics ( Children’s Podiatry)
- Diabetic Care / Wound Management
- Neurological Assessment
- Vascular Assessment
With Podiatry, attention is directed towards Walking / Range of Motion (Gait Analysis) and sporting injuries involving the foot, ankle, knee, hip and back. General podiatry treatments include:
- Sports injuries prevention/ diagnosis/ treatment
- Biomechanical / Gait Analysis
- Insole and orthotic prescription
- Physical Therapies (Hot, Cold, Laser & Ultrasound therapy)
Being Fully HPC Registered means we can give receipts for all treatments for private medical insurance claims (HSA, BUPA, HEALTHSURE) etc.
